On Friday night, Sporting Braga and Benfica meet in a battle of fourth against third in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

In the Spanish Segunda, promotion-chasing Girona go head to head with 18th placed Malaga.

Girona, who currently occupy the fourth-spot trail second-place Almeria by seven points following their 1-0 win over their promotion rivals last time out. Prior to this, Girona had hammered the likes of Ibiza 5-1, Las Palmas 3-1 and scraped a narrow 2-1 victory over Real Oviedo after a 1-1 draw away at Leganes.

Malaga have lost both of their last two matches by 2-0 and 1-0 scorelines against both Huesca and Fuenlabrada, but, prior to this, they had drawn 0-0 and 1-1 with Ponferradina and FC Cartagena on either side of a 2-1 home win over Amorbieta.

Second in the Belgian Pro League Club Brugge travels to bottom of the table Beerschot on Friday night, looking to narrow down their five-point deficit to Union Saint-Gilloise.

Predictably, Beerschot’s form is poor coming into this match, as they have lost all of their last five fixtures, doing so 3-2 against both Sint-Truiden and Sporting Charleroi, as well as 2-0 against Gent, 2-1 versus Royal Antwerp and 1-0 away at Standard Liege.

Meanwhile, Club Brugge have won all of their last five fixtures as they ramp up the pressure at the top of the table, defeating Genk, KV Oostende and AS Eupen by 3-1 scorelines, on top of hammering RFC Seraing 5-0 and Antwerp 4-1.

The last meeting between these two sides produced a five-goal thriller back in late August, in which Brugge came out on top via a 3-2 scoreline thanks to goals by Eder Alvarez Balanta, Charles De Ketelaere and Tibo Persyn.

The next tip comes from the German Bundesliga, as Union Berlin hosts FC Koln at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei.

At present, this is a meeting of ninth against seventh in the German top-flight. This fixture resulted in a 2-2 draw back in early November, but, prior to this, Union had defeated Friday’s opponents 2-1 in their previous three meetings stretching back to June 2020.

Union will be hoping to bounce back from their poor form prior to the international break, as they had been beaten 4-0 and 1-0 by Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg on either side of a 1-1 draw against Stuttgart. Before these recent results, they had defeated St. Pauli 2-1 in the DFB Pokal and Mainz 05 3-1.

Koln have also won just two of their last five, doing so against Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 before their 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund last time out. Their other victory came over Eintracht Frankfurt in late February, but, they could only manage a 1-1 draw with Greuther Furth after this, and were then defeated 1-0 at home to Hoffenheim.

The final tip on this list also comes from the Bundesliga, where Schalke travels to Dynamo Dresden in need of a victory if they are to mount a challenge for the automatic promotion places.

Dresden are 16th which is demonstrated by their recent form, as they have drawn 1-1 three times in their last five matches with Nurnberg, St. Pauli and Heidenheim, as well as losing 2-1 to Werder Bremen and 1-0 to Darmstadt.

Since sacking Dimitrios Grammozis as manager, Schalke have beaten Ingolstadt 3-0 and Hannover 96 2-1. The Greek manager’s last three matches in charge saw the Royal Blues lose 4-3 at home to Hansa Rostock, draw 1-1 away at Karlsruher and beat Paderborn 2-0.
