Franz Wagner Over 17.5 Points
It was a seamless fit for Franz Wagner in his first game back from injury as he scored 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds against the Grizzlies in Berlin a couple of days ago. The German forward showed no signs of rust despite not playing competitive basketball for over a month. Once again the oddsmakers have set his line to a very modest 17.5 points, he has cleared this number in 22 of 25 games played this season which comes out to a success rate of 88%. Memphis ranks 3rd for Points allowed to opposing small forwards this season, so I expect another solid performance from Franz Wagner here.
Anthony Black 2+ Made Threes
Black captured the imagination of NBA fans worldwide with his poster dunk on four defenders against Memphis in Berlin a couple of days ago. However, the streak he has been on shooting the three-ball has been even more impressive in my opinion. His last 10 outings have seen him shoot 41.7% from downtown, quite an accomplishment for a career 34.9% shooter from distance. Black went 4-for-7 from deep on Thursday, you just know he will get plenty of shooting opportunities here, given the form he’s in right now. Memphis gives up the 4th most threes as a team this season, plus they rank 3rd for threes allowed to opposing point guards.
Jaren Jackson Jr. Over 20.5 Points
JJJ had a standout performance on Thursday in the NBA Berlin Game, carrying the Grizzlies offense with 30 points. He is no stranger to doing so this season, in the absence of Ja Morant’s productivity at the point guard position. Jackson Jr. has led the Grizz in scoring 4 times over their 5 most recent games, I expect nothing less from him on Sunday in the re-match against the Magic. The last 9 meetings have seen him average 19.3 points, in 3 of those games he scored 30+ and has connected on multiple threes on 4 occasions. The Magic rank just 20th in opponent points in the paint, allowing 51.8 per game. With the skillset JJJ possesses, he will be able to dominate Orlando both on the inside as well as from the perimeter. Let’s back him to go over here.
