A serious contender for the worst miss of the season!

The Premier League and various top divisions from around the world were put on hold this weekend, with international football returning for the final time in 2018. There's been a number of competitions on display with the UEFA Nations League, CONCACAF Nations League and Africa Cup of Nations qualifying the main highlights. We've seen some fantastic games and moments of top quality but we've also seen the occasional shocker. Alvaro Morata got the ball rolling on Sunday night when he missed an absolute sitter from 6 yards out against Bosnia-Herzegovina - hitting the ball wide when it looked harder to miss than score.

That looked by far and away the worst miss of the weekend but now we have another serious contender, coming from the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Lesotho and Tanzania faced off in an important clash in Group L, with the winners going into second position and giving themselves a decent chance of winning qualification for the next round. Lesotho came out 1-0 winners on home soil courtesy of Nkau Lerotholi but the game will be remembered for an absolutely shocking double miss.

Midway through the first half Lesotho broke through, releasing their forward into a great one-v-one. He looked destined to score when he rounded the keeper but after beating him he kicked the air when trying to slot the ball home. Somehow it fumbled towards the goal and he managed to get another attempt where he AGAIN completely missed the ball - resulting him falling to the turf in embarrassment before Tanzania cleared the ball upfield.

This is a shocking but hilarious sequence of events - watch it unfold below: (Courtesy of @OtiAdjei)
