Charlton vs. Port Vale Prediction, Tips & Stats

Charlton face Port Vale in League One this weekend in a game with few implications.

Charlton Athletic currently sit 11th in League One with fifteen wins, thirteen draws and sixteen losses from forty-four games this season.

The Addicks have had a fairly forgettable campaign in League One having failed to make a significant impact on the league, instead spending the lion's share of the season languishing in the bottom half of the table.

They do seem fairly determined to end the season positively, though, as they enter this game having won two and lost two of their last four games.

However, they did slump to a disappointing defeat in their most recent encounter having fallen to a 2-3 defeat to Morecambe, a side currently in the relegation zone, on home soil.

Games against sides fighting for their lives are tough, in fairness, especially when you have nothing to play for as Charlton currently do.

Their form at home has been solid of late having won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five games on their own patch.

The highest Charlton can finish in the table is 10th and that is what they will target as they continue to play for pride in the remainder of this campaign.

Port Vale currently sit 18th in League One with thirteen wins, ten draws and twenty-one losses from forty-four games this season.

Like their opponents, Port Vale have had a very forgettable campaign having spent the entirety of it struggling in the bottom half, and they're lucky they accumulated enough points in early stages of the season as their form has been so bad in the last few months they'd be in serious jeopardy of relegation.

They did win their most recent game, though, having beaten Bristol Rovers 2-0, a win that was their first in nine matches.

Their form away from home has been very poor, however, with Port Vale failing to win any of their last nine games on the road having also lost their last three on the bounce.

Port Vale can take confidence from the fast they beat Charlton 1-0 back in November, but given their form vulnerability from home it feels as though they'll struggle to replicate that result.

Port Vale are mathematically safe as they sit eight points clear of the drop zone with two games remaining, but the issues that have led to their awful finish to the season must be addressed in the summer to avoid a repeat of this next season.

For our Charlton vs. Port Vale prediction, we're going for a 2-1 wi for the home side.
