Two North West sides lock horns in League One this weekend as Fleetwood Town face Bolton Wanderers.
Fleetwood Town currently sit 23rd in League One with four wins, six draws and twelve losses from twenty-two games this season.
The Cod Army are having a predictably tough season in League One and come into this game needing a result to keep in touch with the sides hovering above the relegation zone.
Their form has been very poor as they enter this one winless in their last six in the league, losing four of those, the most recent of which was a 1-1 draw with Carlisle United.
The result was a hugely disappointing one for Fleetwood given the fact they were at home and facing the only side below them in the league table. As we know, the inability to beat the teams around you often dictates your fate in league football.
They can at least be encouraged by the fact their form on home soil is slightly better, with The Cod Army having won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five games on home soil.
Still, they’re hardly an intimidating opponent when playing on home soil there isn’t much to suggest their fortunes will turn around here.
They’re facing one of the league’s better sides in this one and chances are their winless run will continue.
Bolton Wanderers currently sit 3rd in League One with fourteen wins, three draws and five losses from twenty-two games this season.
The Trotters are in good shape ahead of this game and after a brief wobble in their form, they look as though they’re on their way back to their best.
After embarking upon a three-match winless run, Bolton are coming into this one having won both of their last two games, the most recent of which was a 1-0 win away at Lincoln City.
The win over Lincoln was a big one and came in dramatic fashion as Eoin Toal netted an 89th-minute winner against a Lincoln side that had been playing with ten men for the last seventeen minutes.
It was a hard-fought victory for the Trotters and helps them rebuild some sorely needed momentum, and they’ll be hoping to add to that here with another win away from home which they’ll feel is likely given their form on the road has been impressive of late, with Bolton having lost just one of their last seven games away from home, winning five of those.
Anything other than a win here would not be acceptable for Bolton and the high likelihood is that they’ll get just that.
For our Fleetwood vs. Bolton prediction, we’re going for a 2-0 win for the away side.
