Stockport County can put down their biggest marker on the promotion race into League One this season when they meet with Stevenage at Edgeley Park as the away side look to put down their authority on the title race with Leyton Orient.
Stevenage have had a tremendous season in 2022/23 despite being knocked out of the FA Cup recently after defeating Aston Villa at Villa Park a few weeks back. The club slipped up in midweek, however, as they are coming into this one off the back of falling behind on two occasions to Newport County and ended up drawing 2-2. Luke Norris got the club off and running that day, as Jordan Roberts soon equalised.
Stevenage - not long after looking like becoming the favourites to win the League Two title - have now failed to win since beating Leyton Orient 3-0 in that sensational display at home. The loss to Stoke City in the FA Cup fourth round came soon after, and they also drew 0-0 with Sutton United and then lost to Bradford City.
As for Stockport, they head into this one now up into seventh and behind Salford City by just one point in sixth. It does mean they are now into the top six for the first time this campaign and they will now be favoured for a spot in the playoffs after being the favourites to win League One at 6/1 before the season.
County defeated Crawley Town 2-1 last time out on Tuesday, as Kyle Wootton scored a brace to collect all three points at home. Despite this, they still sit 23/20 to win this one, as Stevenage are 23/10 to get their first victory on the road in five weeks.
