Wrexham and Grimsby are separated by just two points after seven games in League Two this season with the home side in this one putting together a solid run of form that sees them as early contenders for a spot in the playoffs.
Prior to the season starting, Wrexham were the favourites to win League Two at 6/1 and although they remain right up there with those favoured to win the division, they do sit with 15 goals let in from seven games so far, which is the most in League Two right now.
A bulk of these goals came in the stunning 5-5 draw with Swindon Town a few weeks back, but the club have gone on to beat Doncaster Rovers and Tranmere Rovers since then while also edging out a 1-0 win in the Football League Trophy game with Newcastle United U21s.
Wrexham have also drawn with Barrow this season and their only losses of the campaign have been in an opening day defeat to MK Dons where they also let in five goals and a penalty shootout loss to fellow League Two side Bradford City in the EFL Cup.
As for Grimsby, they are down in 12th ahead of this one and have started the season practically the same as they did last time out.
They have so far lost just one game in a defeat away to Notts County around this time last month, drawing with Walsall, Mansfield Town and Bradford City in recent weeks. Grimsby are, however, the only side to beat Gillingham this season with a 2-0 victory over the league leaders at the start of this month.
On the other hand, they have lost both Football League Trophy group stage games so far after a 2-0 defeat to Barnsley and a penalty shootout loss to Manchester City U21s.
Further results for the Blundell Park faithful have seen them beat Salford City and draw with Wimbledon back in the early stages of this campaign, while Grimsby are also out of the EFL Cup at the first round stage following a loss to Mansfield.
