West Ham United will play hosts to Manchester United at the London Stadium this Sunday night with the Red Devils looking to bounce back from a brutal loss to Brighton & Hove Albion and further cement their spot in the top four.
United were not at the races down at the Amex on Thursday and although the club were incredibly unlikely to see their points disappear that night, they were not quite deserving of much from the game either. The likes of Marcus Rashford and Antony could not finish an array of chances they were handed, but there was some well-worked play throughout the team at times.
What's more, despite the top four battle being handed another curveball because of United's recent loss and Liverpool's rise in form, Erik ten Hag's men do still have everything in their own hands.
They sit four clear of their arch rivals in fifth and also head into this game knowing they have a game in hand to play over Liverpool. Brighton themselves have cut the gap to eight points and with a game in hand, but as long as United can match or better the results of Liverpool and Brighton, top four should be theirs.
As for West Ham, they come into this one four points above the relegation zone, meaning they can still afford to drop points in games. On the other hand, with a tough game here and relegation battles with Leeds United and Leicester City to come alongside a battle in the Europa Conference League with AZ Alkmaar, as they bid for the final.
The Hammers have also lost their last three games since their stunning 4-0 win over Bournemouth, although they were not expected to defeat Liverpool and Manchester City. They could, however, have got something out of the thrilling 4-3 draw with Crystal Palace last weekend, but they let a lead go early on.
