Sitting on six goals for France, Thierry Henry is unsurprisingly in the top five all-time goal scorers at the Euros. He was victorious in Euro 2000, beating Italy 2-1 AET. Although he didn’t score in the final, he netted three times during the tournament which was held in Belgium and the Netherlands.

4. Alan Shearer | National Side: England | Goals: 7 | Appearances: 9 | Tournaments: Euro 1992, 1996 & 2000

The only Englishman to make the top 10, Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer bagged 7 goals across two European Championships. Euro 96 was the striker's best goal haul, with an impressive tally of five goals. He scored his remaining two goals in Euro 2000 against France and Romania.

3. Antoine Griezmann | National Side: France | Goals: 7 | Appearances: 11 | Tournaments: Euro 2016 & 2020

The second Frenchman to be in the top 5 equals Shearer's record with seven goals. Antoine Griezmann made his European Championship debut in 2016, where he netted an impressive six goals. Despite falling to Portugal 1-0 in the final, he did earn the Golden Boot award for the tournament. His last goal came in Euro 2020, in a 1-1 draw with Hungary.

2. Michel Platini | National Side: France | Goals: 9 | Appearances: 5 | Tournaments: Euro 1984

A third Frenchman makes the list in second place. Legend Michel Platini managed nine European Championship goals which all came in one tournament, yes ONE tournament! France were triumphant in Euro 1984 with Platini’s nine goals coming in five games, one of which was in the 2-0 final victory over Spain.

Top of the pile is Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo who now plies his trade at Saudi Pro League outfit Al Nassr.

The Portuguese forward has 14 goals to his name in 15 European championship appearances spanning over five tournaments. His most successful European campaign in terms of goalscoring came at Euro 2020 where Ronaldo scored five times, despite going out to Belgium, he shared the Golden Boot with Patrick Schick from the Czech Republic. Don’t bet against Ronaldo appearing at Euro 2024 either.

Inevitably, Ronaldo holds the record for the most tournaments scored at, with the Portugal legend being the only player in the history of the Euros to have played at five separate championships, having featured at Euro 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020.

Memorably, the Portuguese forward captained A Seleção das Quinas to glory at Euro 2016 when they beat the host nation, France, 1-0 in the final. While at Euro 2020, Ronaldo won the Golden Boot, with his opener in a 4-2 Group Stage defeat to Germany seeing him surpass Platini's record of nine goals.

Ex-Juventus midfielder Michel Platini holds the record of nine goals in European finals. He was part of the famous Carre Magique midfield alongside Jean Tigana, Alain Giresse and Luis Fernandez for the 1984 edition of this competition.

Memorably, Platini scored in all five fixtures at Euro 1984 against the likes of Denmark, Belgium, Yugoslavia, Portugal and Spain as France emerged victorious as host nation. In this run of fixtures, Platini managed to score TWO hat-tricks against Belgium and Yugoslavia as Les Bleues topped Group 1.

Undoubtedly, England’s all-time top goal scorer Harry Kane is one who’ll look to break into the top five at he next championship. The 30-year-old currently has four goals from Euro 2020, where he suffered heartbreak as England fell to Italy in the first major final since 1966. The Bayern Munich frontman will need to equal his tally to become third on the all-time charts, but he will have his work cut out to try and reach Ronaldo’s record, as he looks to extend his record further.

Kylian Mbappe | National Side: France | Goals: 0 | Appearances: 4 | Tournaments: Euro 2020

PSG forward Kylian Mbappe’s first European Championship in 2021 (Euro 2020) was well below par for the Frenchman’s standards and he will no doubt be keen to rectify this at Euro 2024, having scored no goals and created two assists as France were dumped out at the Round of 16 by Switzerland. Mbappe has managed 40 goals in 71 caps for France at the age of 24 and will be keen to add to his tally once again.

Erling Haaland | National Side: Norway | Goals: 0 | Appearances: 0 | Tournaments: N/A

The 23-year-old Norwegian star has been dubbed somewhat of a robot in recent seasons. Having bagged 36 league goals in his debut season at Manchester City he will be looking to replicate that devastating form for his national team. With his age, Haaland will hope he can qualify for major finals with Norway, and break into the top five all-time goal-scoring charts in the process.
