The European Championships are quickly approaching this summer, as fans and players alike are readying themselves for the summer of football.
This tournament represents the best European countries competing to see who the best in the continent is truly, two years before the majority of those countries test their abilities on the main stage.
One of the perks of international tournaments is the free-to-air broadcasting for international tournaments. Club football requires a subscription to the likes of TNT Sports and Sky Sports – in more recent times also Amazon Prime.
International tournaments are free to air for the British public, along with other major sporting events such as the Wimbledon Tennis Championships and the Rugby World Cup.
The reason behind this is because of the Ofcom “Listed events”, which rules that all major sporting events are freely available, especially those who can’t afford sports behind a subscripted paywall.
This summer ITV and BBC once again will distribute the rights equally. The distribution was the same situation for the last two major international championships, that being the World Cup in Qatar and the European Championships which were delayed for a year.
ITV and BBC will both show the final as per an agreement between the two broadcasters.
