When Barcelona swooped to sign Sassuolo midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng in January, it’s fair to say there was a pretty universal shocked response to the signing.
The Ghanaian midfielder has had a pretty colourful career that has seen him play for no fewer than 10 clubs in Hertha Berlin, Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund, Porsmtough, AC Milan, Schalke, Las Palmas, Eintracht Frankfurt, Sassuolo and now Barca.
It left one fan particularly gutted, after he paid to get Boateng transferred into his Serie A fantasy football team, only for him to then leave Italy for Spain during the January transfer window.
The fan vented their frustration to Boateng via Instagram, writing: "You should reimburse me, what will I do now? Will I send you my account number?
"Give me the money, this is the IBAN!," he added, with the new Barcelona signing incredibly replying to him and, incredibly, committing to the fan’s demands!
Not only did Boateng offer to pay him back the money spent - which the fan decided to then give to charity over pocketing it himself - but he also promised the fan a trip to Barcelona to meet him in person.
"Hi Renato, I've already paid you back. A big hug," said Boateng.
"I'd like to do two things, thank you in person or give this money to charitable causes and the ticket [to visit him in Barcelona] will be paid for by me.
"It would be a dream to take a picture with you if you agree to it. I don't want it to be forced."
He may have lost money on the transfer, but at least this fan will be getting a trip to Barcelona out of it.
