Kylian Mbappe Mark II: The 11-year-old watched by PSG

Latest News

Kylian Walker-Peters

French superstar Kylian Mbappe has taken the world by storm in the previous two years, lighting up Ligue 1 with his outrageous footwork, dazzling tricks and stupendous eye for goal.

The 20-year-old forward, who can operate as a sole striker or to the right or left of a front three, demonstrated to the watching world just why he is deemed to be one of the very best in the business in Tuesday night's Champions League encounter against Manchester United.

The French starlet, who was an integral part of France's World Cup winning squad last summer, scored PSG's second goal against the Red Devils, showing flashes of brilliance throughout the tie at Old Trafford.

Mbappe is going right to the very top, and at such a young age will enjoy an extremely fruitful career should he continue to put in these kind of performances.

He is however not the only Kylian Mbappe currently roaming our planet, oh no. In what is probably the most bizarre story you'll hear this week, there is in fact another Kylian Mbappe, who is also a french footballer, who is also of Cameroonian descent, who is also being monitored by Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe (mark II) is eleven years of age and resides in Roissy-en-Brie, the city where none other than Paul Pogba - Mbappe's international teammate - grew up. Anyone else a little freaked out?

Mbappe since birth

The main thing running through your head at the moment is probably that eleven year old Mbappe was named after his older namesake.

However as his father points out, with just eight years separating the two, this was definitely not the case. In a recent interview conducted with Le Parisien, Eric (Mbappe Jnr's father) said:

"I've often been asked if I've purposely named my son that way,"

"We forget that they are only eight years apart and that, inevitably, the footballer was not known when my son was born."

When asked about the similarities between himself and PSG starlet Mbappe Snr, the younger Kylian replied:

"Since the other is known, I have become used to it. I do not pay attention even if it makes me rather happy. As a PSG fan, I would like to have the same career as him."

Interest from PSG

A name isn't the only thing Mbappe shares with, well, Mbappe however. The youngster is also an extremely promising footballer, though the 11-year-old version is more accustomed to playing in a more defensive position in the midfield to his idol.

It's reported that PSG have been in contact with Kylian Jnr's family, with Eric adding in his interview:

"My son will do what he wants and we will not push him at all costs to become a professional footballer."

"If this is the case and he goes to PSG, which has also solicited us, we will inevitably make the connection with the other Kylian.

"When he revealed himself, we were delighted to see that he is a good boy, simple and natural. Mine never complains. As long as he plays football, he is happy. I only comment to him when he missed things. And he does not like that much."
