Liverpool to go unbeaten at home? City to dominate?

The Premier League is back!

Last weekend saw the Premier League return to stadiums up and down the country & what a three days it was. Manchester United kicked off the new campaign with a narrow 2-1 win over Leicester City and the games that followed certainly didn't disappoint, with the two pre-season favourites for the title sending out a big statement to the rest of the division.

Jurgen Klopp's big spending Liverpool made the perfect start to the campaign thrashing West Ham 4-0 at Anfield. The Reds never had to get out of second gear but they still produced a classy, dominant display which featured 3 debuts to really get the supporters excited.

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City began their defence of the Premier League title with a tough looking trip to North London to take on Arsenal - that was without Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, David Silva and Nicolas Otamedni in the line-up. But that didn't faze them, with Pep's boys proving that they're still very much the team to beat after delivering a fantastic performance to cast the Gunners aside 2-0 at the Emirates.

Those two performances were without a doubt the most impressive of the weekend which makes some of the special markets on bet365 look very interesting. They're offering some unique selections on each of these two sides for the upcoming weeks and remainder of the Premier League season - read below for more...

Anfield dominance for a second successive season?

Liverpool have evolved into one of the most exciting sides in the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp but they're still yet to win a piece of silverware under the likeable German. Their League Cup triumph back in 2012 remains the last trophy that the club won and after some heavy investment and their run to the Champions League Final back in May, many fans are dreaming that'll change.

They kicked off the new Premier League season on Sunday and it was an enjoyable afternoon for everyone involved with the club, running out comprehensive 4-0 winners over Manuel Pellegrini's West Ham at Anfield. Goals from Daniel Sturridge, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane (2) did the damage at Anfield and extended their unbeaten run on Merseyside to a hugely impressive 22 Premier League games.

The Reds were the only side to go unbeaten for ALL of the 17/18 PL campaign on home soil with just Manchester City (61) and Arsenal (54) scoring more goals than them (45) in front of their own supporters. Goals are what Liverpool are known for but now at the other end they're looking very solid, with the January club record acquisition of Virgil van Dijk a large factor in that. Such has been his performances in the red of Liverpool he's even drawn plaudits from Man Utd legend Manchester United - he must be doing something right....

Virgil van Dijk Liverpool Gary Neville

The additions of Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri, Alisson Becker and Naby Keita add some seriously impressive strength in depth to their squad in key areas & should they continue to click like they did on Sunday then they could be some force.

Bet365 are offering odds on the Reds to achieve that feat again, which after Sunday's performance and their ability to win at home last term looks like a real possibility. You can get Klopp's men to go the Premier League season unbeaten at Anfield at a very good 12/1 with 365, they were the only team to do it last season and they're definitely capable of doing it again!

City still the team to beat

It was a pretty quiet summer for Manchester City off the pitch with Riyad Mahrez the only major addition to their title winning squad, but that doesn't mean that matters on the pitch have slowed down. The Champions produced another superb performance on the weekend to pick up a big three points away to Unai Emery's Arsenal on Sunday, without some of their big hitters.

De Bruyne, Sane, Silva, Kompany & Otamendi are just some of the first team regulars who were missing from the starting XI following their extended breaks from the World Cup but they still looked magnificent - with goals from Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva securing the three points. The way that City press from the front and give the opposition no time on the ball makes them an absolute nightmare to face and their opening weekend performance shows that they're still hungry for more success.

Last season the Citizens broke a whole host of records on their way to lifting the Premier League title, none bigger than their feat of 100 points. They were beaten just twice in 38 games but being the perfectionist that Pep is he'll be demanding more, which might encourage many to back them to go next season unbeaten. Arsenal are the only side in PL history to do so but the statistics prove that this City side is as good as anyone - so if it anyone can do it it's them. That's available at 33/1 with bet365 and it's something that Guardiola will be striving for as he bids to strengthen his grip on English football.

Pep Guardiola Manchester City

Another unique market available on Manchester City with bet365 is the amount of points that the Champions will pick up in their next 6 games. They take on Huddersfield (H), Wolves (A), Newcastle (H), Fulham (H), Cardiff (A) & Brighton (H) in that period - all games that they're expected to win comfortably. Neither of those sides finished higher than tenth in the league last season with Cardiff, Wolves and Fulham coming up from the Championship - so they're massive favourites to pick up maximum points.

365 are offering odds on a variety of points totals from those 6 games but City to go on and win them all (18 points) looks like a very good selection! See what's on offer below:
