Premier League Relegation Odds 2025/2026

Here we take a look at the Premier League's relegation odds ahead of the 2025/26 season with the three promoted sides hoping to perform better than their equivalents last season, all of whom were relegated last year.

  • Sunderland: 2/7
  • Burnley: 1/3
  • Leeds: 1/1
  • Wolves: 10/3
  • Brentford: 7/2
  • West Ham: 6/1
  • Everton: 7/1
  • Fulham: 7/1
  • Crystal Palace: 15/2
  • Nottingham Forest: 9/1
  • Bournemouth: 9/1
  • Brighton: 16/1
  • Man United: 20/1
  • Man City: 20/1
  • Tottenham: 40/1
  • Chelsea: 100/1
  • Aston Villa: 150/1
  • Newcastle: 200/1
  • Arsenal: 1000/1
  • Liverpool: 1000/1

Sunderland - Odds: 2/7

The favourites to be relegated in the 2025/2026 season are Sunderland, who secured their place in the Premier League this season via the playoffs. Their route to the top league involved finishing fourth in the league, beating Coventry thanks to an extremely late extra time goal, and then scoring deep into injury time to secure a 2-1 victory against Sheffield United in the play-off final at Wembley.

The positive news for Sunderland is that they have secured three of their star loan players from last season on permanent deals: Habib Diarra, Simon Adringa & Enzo Le Fée.

However, they have sold Jobe Bellingham and Tom Watson - two promising young players - and there has been little other business. It remains to be seen how well regular players from last season such as Trai Hume, Chris Mepham and Dennis Cirkin can adapt to the much tougher demands on the Premier League.

Burnley - Odds: 1/3

In the past, a team scoring 100 points in the Championship would be widely expected to have a strong chance of staying up. The gap between the top two tiers has rapidly grown in recent years though, and Burnley are heavily odds on to go straight back down despite finishing 2nd with 100 points in 2024/2025.

They've also spent about £70 million in the summer window. This money has been spread across a number of players, including Louman Tchaouna (Lazio), Bashir Humpreheys (Chelsea), Marcus Edwards (Sporting CP) and Quilindschy Hartman (Feyenoord). Jaidon Antony's successful loan deal has been converted into a permanent deal, Kyle Walker has joined on a free and they've held on to all their main players from last season too.

The big question mark over Burnley is how their defensive style will hold up in the Premier League. They conceded just 16 goals in 46 games last season, but also scored just 69 - that's 26 less than champions Leeds and two less than 13th placed Norwich...

Given the potency of the strike forces they'll be facing this season the feeling from bookmakers is that they will struggle to outscore other teams this season.

Leeds - Odds: 1/1

Leeds showed their class in the second half of the Championship season, pulling away from the rest having been second at Christmas. They recovered from a small March wobble to win their last five matches in a row and secure the Championship title with 100 points and a goal difference of +65.

Their ability to score goals, combined with having the second best defence in the league, has seen them given a decent chance by the bookmakers. While all three relegated teams are the three shortest prices to be relegated the odds of 1/1 gives Leeds the same chance of staying up as being relegated. Effectively it's a coin flip.

The summer transfer window has been relatively quiet for Leeds, with just a couple of defensive reinforcements. That means they'll be relying on a number of players who featured in their last Premier League campaign in 2022/2023, plus previous additions with Premier League experience such as Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu.

The question for Leeds is which other team (or teams) will underperform? With all three promoted teams going straight back down again last season the other 17 are all looking more established, with mature squads.

Wolves - Odds: 10/3

Wolves have been steadily sliding down the table in recent years:

  • 2021/22 - 10th
  • 2022/23 - 13th
  • 2023/24 - 14th
  • 2024/25 - 16th

Last season, just the three promoted teams and Tottenham (who are expected to perform far better this year) finished below them.

They picked up just 7 points from their last 6 games, and more worryingly they lost their key forward Matheus Cunha to Manchester United. While he was mercurial at times last year - to put it kindly - he was their top scorer with 15 goals and will be a huge miss this year, as will Ait Nouri who has joined Manchester City.

Jorgen Strand Larsen will be key to their success, and will likely need to score more than his 14 goal haul last season to keep them competitive through the season.

Brentford - Odds: 7/2

It's perhaps surprising to see Brentford this short for relegation - 7/2 fifth favourites. They finished 10th last season, with a positive goal difference of +9, and picked up 13 points from their last 6 games.

That was an easy run to finish the season though and there are headwinds for 2025. Manager Thomas Frank has been integral to their success since gaining promotion to the Premier League four seasons ago. He has been replaced by Keith Andrews, who has been promoted from set piece coach. He has relatively little coaching experience at a high level, although he can be expected to get significant support from Brentford's existing set up.

Brian Mbuemo scored 20 goals for Brentford last season and is heavily linked to Manchester United who are rumoured to be confident of a deal for the Frenchman. They've also already lost key midfielder Christian Norgaard to Arsenal. New attacking signing Antoni Milambo is exciting but aged 20 years old has scored just 4 goals in 40 appearances so far for Feyenoord and will require time to settle. It wouldn't be a surprise to see them revisit the transfer market for an Mbuemo replacement, but finding a 20 goal a season striker (or even a 10 goal one) is increasingly difficult in this market.
