      Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Prediction

Crystal Palace's form has been relatively mixed heading into the new campaign, as the Eagles have won three, lost two and drawn one of their pre-season matches. Oliver Glasner's side have shown their defensive frailties in recent matches, as they have not kept a clean sheet in their last four matches and against Liverpool, they are at a disadvantage in the head-to-head records.

Liverpool have won two of the last four meetings against Crystal Palace, and the last time these two sides met in a cup competition was in 2015, where the Reds were victorious in a 2-1 scoreline at Selhurst Park.

Liverpool's pre-season preparations and their off-the-field activity have given many Liverpool fans the confidence that this season the Premier League champions will be competing on multiple fronts. Heading into this game, the Reds have won their last three matches, and they picked up four points from their league games against Crystal Palace last season.

The Reds have an exceptional record at Wembley in recent years, winning four of their last five final appearances and we believe that will continue here. Liverpool can't keep a clean sheet either, as the Reds are without one in 10 matches, but the overall quality of Liverpool's squad should see them over the line against Crystal Palace.

      Crystal Palace 1-3 Liverpool

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Preview & Prediction

Crystal Palace and Liverpool meet in the annual curtain raiser between the Premier League Champions and the FA Cup winners, with the Reds seemingly favourites and understandably so heading into this game.

      Date: 10/08/2025
      Location: Wembley Stadium, London
      Time: 3.00pm

Crystal Palace find themselves competing in their first-ever Community Shield, after their unprecedented success in lifting the FA Cup last season. The Eagles also earned themselves a ticket for European football for the first time in the club's history; however, because of the laws set by UEFA, they will partake in the UEFA Europa Conference League this season. Due to the issues presented by the dual ownership situation, Crystal Palace have yet to strengthen in the transfer market significantly, only bringing in Borna Sosa from Ajax for a reported £2million fee and Walter Benitez from PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer. Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze continue to be linked with moves away, with the aforementioned Guehi subject of much speculation because of his contract situation.

As for Liverpool, Arne Slot enjoyed a wonderful debut season, as he filled in the huge footsteps left by Jurgen Klopp. The former Feyenoord manager comfortably won the Premier League last season with four games to spare and by only spending roughly £12million on Federico Chiesa from Juventus. This summer, Liverpool have showcased their strength in the market by signing Bayer Leverkusen duo Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, while adding to their attacking department with a deal for Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. The Reds are continuously linked with Newcastle United striker, Alexander Isak, as the Reds look set to smash the British transfer record for the Swedish international.

      Team News

      Crystal Palace:

Marc Guehi is set to feature against Liverpool despite constant speculation surrounding his future at the club. Guehi has been linked with Newcastle United and Liverpool this summer, but the Palace defender is still very much part of Oliver Glasner's plans.

      Liverpool:

Virgil van Dijk looks set to return to the squad after missing out through illness against Athletic Bilbao on Monday. Conor Bradley is likely to be unavailable with a minor injury, while doubts also remain over Alisson and Joe Gomez.

      Recent Form/Form Guide

      Crystal Palace:

The Eagles endured a rather mixed pre-season, as the FA Cup winners won three of their six pre-season outings and head into this game following a 1-0 defeat against Bundesliga side Augsburg. For context, Crystal Palace played Augsburg twice on Monday, with their main starting eleven coming away with a 3-1 win in Germany. Oliver Glasner's side lost to Mainz in Germany (3-2), while securing wins in early July against Crawley Town (0-3) and Millwall (1-0).

Crystal Palace ended their season in spectacular form, as the Eagles were unbeaten in their final five matches, with victories against Wolves (4-2), Manchester City (1-0) & Tottenham Hotspur (0-2). The Eagles recorded two draws in their last five games of last season against Nottingham Forest (1-1) and conveniently Liverpool (1-1).

      Liverpool:

The Premier League champions, Liverpool, have enjoyed a rather successful pre-season by winning four of their five pre-season outings, with their only defeat being against Milan (2-4) late July. The Reds have secured victories against Preston North End (1-3), Yokohama FM (1-3), and Athletic Club (4-1 & 3-2), as they look to secure their second Community Shield triumph in four years.

The Reds didn't end their season in particularly inspiring form; however, to provide context, Liverpool had already won the league title on Matchday 34, so the performances in the four remaining games meant little in the grand scheme of things. Liverpool and Crystal Palace met on the final day of last season, with the points being shared in a 1-1 draw.
