Championship Promotion Odds

The Championship is seen by many as one of the greatest leagues in the world, with a main factor of that being its unpredictability and unrivalled competitiveness. It can be a hard league for teams to escape, with plenty of sides battling out for an automatic promotion spot in the top two or a chance to make it to Wembley and be promoted via the play-offs.

We’ve looked at the latest odds from Sky Bet to give you the Championship promotion odds and see who can follow in the footsteps of Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham next season.

Here are all the Championship 2020/21 promotion odds.

Brentford promotion odds

Thomas Frank’s Brentford had a marvellous season last campaign and should, in reality, have been promoted.

Brentford's famous ‘Moneyball’ transfer system has worked wonders in recent times and the club has been making giant leaps towards the Premier League, coming ridiculously close this season.

Despite an eight-game winning streak, the Bees lost their final two all-important games and were forced to settle for a play-offs spot, rather than secure automatic promotion which was seemingly their's.

Brentford would lose in a London derby to Fulham in the final and their dream would end in more of a nightmare than a dream. Brentford promotion odds are priced at 15/8, whilst Brentford to win the Championship odds are priced at 5/1.

An immediate return for the relegated sides?

After relegation form the top tier last season, two of last year’s Premier League bottom three join Brentford as one of the favourites to go back up.

Norwich have kept their style of football as well as their manager and some of their top players despite a rock-bottom finish last season, and Norwich promotion odds sit at 15/8. If the Canaries can keep hold of players like Teemu Pukki, Todd Cantwell and Max Aarons, even winning the title isn't adrift for them, and Norwich to win the Championship odds sit at 6/1.

Many were shocked when Watford dismissed another manager and sacked Nigel Pearson in the midst of a relegation battle last season which could have ultimately been their downfall. However, the managerless Hornets still have some top-quality Premier League level players such as Ismaila Sarr and Abdoulaye Doucoure. Under new manager Vladimir Ivic, Watford promotion odds are priced at 15/8, whilst Watford to win Championship odds are priced at 6/1.

Bournemouth's season is tough to predict, as we don't know how the club will work without Eddie Howe, who has been the driving force in promotion from League Two to the Premier League. The Cherries do still have some of their important players, despite losing Nathan Ake, and Bournemouth promotion odds are at 11/4 and Bournemouth to win the Championship is priced at 10/1.

Don't look past Forest

It’s been over 20 years since Nottingham Forest were last in the Premier League and they came desperately close to a play-off battle on the final day in 2019/20.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side impressed at times last season and held a top six spot for much of the campaign before falling out of a play-off spot on the final day because of goal difference. Forest promotion odds are 7/2 to improve on last season and finally return to the top tier, whether it be via or the play-offs or the top two.

Rooney and Derby to ram their way to the Premier League?

More than 10 years after their last stint in the Premier League, is now the time for Derby to get promoted? Experienced players like Wayne Rooney in the side, Derby promotion odds sit at 9/2 after a season which was slightly disastrous, considering they were in the play-off final a year prior.

The Rams finished a 10th in the table, six points of the play-offs and almighty 19 off the automatically promoted West Brom in second. No doubt there going to need a vast improvement for Derby if they are too be promoted, but the signs are there and a play-off battle could once again arise.

Could there be a welsh return to the Premier League?

Cardiff were relegated from the Premier League two seasons ago but failed to make swift return last year, despite a play-off charge towards the end. Neil Harris has come in and picked up some positive results before losing on aggregate to Fulham in the play-offs. Cardiff promotion odds sit at 5/1 where the Bluebirds would make it to the Premier League for the third time in seven years.

Across South Wales, Swansea also found themselves in the play-offs last season after a dramatic 4-1 win on the last day took them above Forest on goal difference. Swansea proved all season long they are still a team to be recognised, however, losing the likes of Rhian Brewster back to Liverpool could be damming for them, and no doubt the transfer market is set to become vitally important.

Swansea promotion odds are at 5/1.

Preston and Stoke in with an outside chance

Preston fell just short of a play-off place last season, and Alex Neil’s constantly improving side are 11/2 to go one step further and get promotion next campaign.

Stoke are also 11/2 for promotion, after a poor season in which they finished in the bottom half of the table. Michael O’Neil took the reins later in the season and produced some big wins, so they will hope to build on that and push for promotion.

Will Warnock work his magic?

Middlesbrough had a poor season last campaign under Johnathan Woodgate and managed to survive relegation after looking in trouble at times.

Now, with the man who holds the record for the most promotions in England as a manager in the hot seat, Neil Warnock’s men are 15/2 to reach the Premier League after next season.
