13:45 - Aintree - Indeevar Bleu

Day Two of the Grand National Meeting at Aintree gets underway with a Handicap Hurdle over two miles and four.

Olly Murphy-trained Indeevar Bleu has been kept fresh for this race since bolting up over course and distance on Boxing Day. That was an impressive round of jumping, beating Serious Operator by five lengths.

Only defeat over hurdles came over an inadequate two miles when three lengths behind Tutti Quanti. Lightly raced and is improving with every run under rules.

14:20 - Aintree - Gold Dancer

The first Grade One on Friday comes in the form of the Mildmay Novices’ Chase. Gold Dancer is an interesting contender for the Willie Mullins yard after running incredibly well when second to the well-handicapped Meetmebythesea in the Grade Two Jack Richards at the Cheltenham Festival.

Has won three from eight starts over fences, and has only finished outside of the first two on two occasions, including when running on unsuitable heavy ground in February. A better surface will play to his strengths and deserves major respect for a yard that excels at this time of year.

14:55 - Aintree - Sober Glory

Next up is the Grade One Top Novices’ Hurdle, run over an extended two miles. Sober Glory was an unlucky loser at the Cheltenham Festival when a mistake at the last ultimately cost him his chance in the Grade One Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.

The six-year-old has won three from five over obstacles, impressively landing back-to-back races at Newbury in Janaury and February by wide margins. Is clear of this field on ratings, and is incredibly hard to oppose after the level of his performance last time out.

15:30 - Aintree - Heart Wood

An interesting renewal of the Grade One Melling Chase is set for Aintree on Friday. Heart Wood represents the in-form Henry De Bromhead yard, and he could be the standout selection against a number of potentially regressing contenders.

Heart Wood was an excellent winner of the Grade One Ryanair Chase at the Festival last month, recording a fifth victory over fences in the process. Has previous experience at Aintree after finishing third behind subsequent Gold Cup winner Inothewayurthinkin in the Grade One Milmay Novices’ Chase in April 2024.

16:05 - Aintree - Mahons Glory

Professional jockeys go over the Grand National fences for the first time this week in the Topham Handicap Chase. Mahons Glory could be an interesting each-way play for the in-form Dylan Cunha yard.

The ten-year-old has experience over the National fences, finishing fourth in the Grand Sefton and fifth in the Becher. He was an impressive 12-length winner at Huntingdon last month, showing he retains plenty of his ability.

Will carry a light weight compared to his previous runs at Aintree, which could ensure he is competitive.

16:40 - Aintree - Mondoui’boy

The final race on ITV this Friday is the Grade One Sefton Novices’ Hurdle. Mondoui’boy ran a big race when fourth in the Grade One Albert Bartlett at the Festival last month, and has won twice from three starts over hurdles.

The Ben Pauling yard is in reliable recent form, and this six-year-old looks perfectly tailored to the three-mile trip at Aintree after previously winning at Ludlow over two miles and five. Ben Jones will be aboard, and he could resume his progress over hurdles by bouncing back to winning form.
