            Netherlands vs Germany Prediction

This game promises to be a close encounter between two bitter rivals in the Netherlands and Germany. For this fixture, we are leaning towards a Germany win based on the strength of Julian Nagelsmann’s side, although it will be competitive.

Expect goals, as neither side has kept a clean sheet in the last five meetings against each other, with the Over 2.5 landing in five of the previous six. Both teams tend to find the scoresheet in this fixture, with both sides scoring in the last five meetings.

Germany have won three of the previous four meetings against their bitter rivals. Germany have won the first half of this fixture in four of the previous five. Germany have won seven of the last ten fixtures under Nagelsmann.

We can’t look past Germany for these reasons, although the Netherlands won’t be easy for Julian Nagelsmann’s side. We are predicted Germany to win 2-1.

            Netherlands 1-2 Germany.

Netherlands vs Germany: Preview & Prediction

The UEFA Nations League is underway as teams set their ambitions out in the early phase and hope to achieve success. The big game on Tuesday occurs at the Johan Cruijff Arena as bitter rivals the Netherlands and Germany go toe to toe again.

            Date: 10/09/2024
            Location: Johan Cruijff Arena
            Kick-Off: 7.45 pm

Undoubtedly, on Tuesday, the eyes of the world will be on the Netherlands vs Germany game as the two titans of international football resume their storied rivalry. The rivalry can be dated back to 1974 when Germany beat the Netherlands in the World Cup final despite the Dutch national side possessing a reportedly stronger outfit. In 1988, in a fiercely contested affair, the Netherlands enacted revenge in Germany to knock them out of the European Championship. The fixture has been known for shameful incidents in the football world, most notably Frank Rijkaard's actions towards Rudi Voller in the World Cup of 1990.

Fast forward to the present day and the rivalry resumes another chapter. The Netherlands began their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 5-2 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina, thanks to goals from Joshua Zirkzee, Tiijani Reijnders, Cody Gakpo, Wout Weghorst and Xavi Simons. That win has placed the Netherlands second in the group after the first game.

Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany side, suffered defeat on home soil in the summer, as they couldn’t bring the European Championship home. Their UEFA Nations League campaign though, has begun superbly through a 5-0 demolition job of Hungary. Goals from Niclas Fullkrug, Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Kai Havertz rubber-stamped an emphatic win for Germany.

The two sides last met in March, where Germany were 2-1 winners over the Netherlands.

            Form Guide

The recent meetings between the two teams favour Julian Naglesmann as he builds his Germany project. The visiting side for this fixture has won three of the previous four meetings and uncoincidentally has won the first half in all four, which is bound to give them a slight psychological edge for this fixture on Tuesday.

The Netherlands enter this game on relatively respectable form, having won three of their last five games. Their only two defeats occurred against Austria in the Group Stage of the European Championships and the semi-final against England, respectively. The Netherlands need to be slightly better defensively if they are going to stop Germany, as Ronald Koeman’s side have not kept a clean sheet in their previous three.

The home form is excellent for the Netherlands when they have played on home soil and not been a featured designated home side in international tournaments. Ronald Koeman’s side have won four of the last five home games at the Johan Cruijff Arena - including three consecutive victories over Canada, Republic of Ireland and Scotland, respectively.

The visitors, Germany, will be buoyed by their recent form as they have won seven of the last ten fixtures under Julian Nagelsmann. Their last defeat was the quarter-final loss in the European Championships against eventual champions Spain, which brought much disappointment to the home crowd.

The Netherlands home advantage could be critical, as Germany’s travels haven’t been rewarded with great endeavour. Julian Nagelsmann’s side have only won once away from home in their last five, with their previous away victory being a 2-0 win over France. The game was remembered for Florian Wirtz scoring inside eight seconds of the game starting.
