Our EFL Goalscorer Tips to Watch This Weekend - 19/3/22

Northampton Town plays host to Bristol Rovers this weekend as both sides aim to continue their hunt for promotion. Despite sitting five places apart, just three points separate these two, so expect a hard-fought game on Saturday.

Hosts Northampton is in poor form, with two wins, a draw, and two losses in their past five, however still sit second, with midfielder Mitchell Pinnock finding the net three times in the past four games taking the Englishman to 19 goal contributions for the season.

The visitors have won four from five so will be high on confidence, with striker Aaron Collins matching Pinnock’s record of three goals from four taking his total to 11 for the campaign.

Given both forwards’ recent form and the importance of this one, we expect a good game at Sixfields Stadium, with our tip Collins to score First at 5/1.

Portsmouth welcomes Wycombe Wanderers to Fratton Park this weekend as the visitors look to continue their recent good form.

The Wanderers enter this one with three wins from their last four, leaving them eighth and still in the mix for a play-off spot. The hosts have drawn and lost in their previous two, however, had three wins on the bounce prior to this so Danny Cowley’s side will be looking to rekindle their winning streak.

Portsmouth forward George Hirst has been amongst the goals recently, scoring five times in his last five games, three of which came in the first half. Two of Hirst’s first half goals broke the deadlock in their respective games, and we back the Englishman to do so again this week, priced at 6/1 to score first.

Whilst the spotlight in Cheltenham may shine on the races this week, in the football world, Cheltenham Town welcomes AFC Wimbledon to The Jonny-Rocks Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors sit one place outside the relegation zone but are level on points with 21st placed Gillingham, only bettering the Gills on goal difference. Being winless in five, the Dons are amongst the worst form sides in the division, however, can take solace in the fact that hosts Cheltenham have won just two of their past five.

The Robins sit 13th coming into this one, clear of a relegation battle although too far out to challenge for promotion.

In recent weeks, forward Alfie May has been amongst the goals, scoring three in three appearances for Michael Duff's side. The Englishman “May” fancy this week against a Wimbledon side who haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last four, with our tip May to score anytime priced at 5/4.

Birmingham City face a trip to Wales this weekend to take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in a mid-table clash.

At this point in the season, neither side is in real danger of relegation, however, are both well off the pace of challenging for a play-off spot.

The hosts are in good form, winning three and drawing two in their last five, finding the net on each occasion whilst the visitors have managed just one win in five, losing three times and drawing the other.

Throughout this time, the Blues have been poor defensively and may struggle against a Swansea side who have been clinical in front of goal recently.

Swans forward Michael Obafemi has been clinical lately, scoring braces in two of his last four appearances including last time out away at Peterborough. The striker will be looking forward to facing an out-of-sorts Birmingham side, with our tip Obafemi to score 2+ goals priced at 9/1.

Swindon Town faces a short journey east this weekend to face Crawley Town as they look to keep up their chase for a play-off spot. The visitors have won three of their past five, leaving them in sixth heading into this weekend in what is a must-win game for the Robins.

Hosts Crawley sit mid-table in 15th, however, are in poor form with three consecutive losses having kept a clean sheet just once in their last five outings. This bodes well for the visitors, as Ben Garner’s side is the division's second top scorers with 61 league goals this season, with forward Harry McKirdy responsible for 16 of those.

The Englishman has been prolific recently with three goals in his last five and will look to take advantage of a leaky Crawley defence. Given McKirdy’s recent goal-scoring prowess, we expect the forward to have a fruitful afternoon, priced at 8/5 to score anytime
