Leicester vs Chelsea Prediction

Chelsea have made a strong start to the season and we expect this to continue against Leicester. The Blues are unbeaten in their previous three in all competitions and have remained unbeaten in the last six meetings with the Foxes. This includes three wins in a row.

Goals should be a feature as neither side has kept a clean sheet in the last four meetings between the pair, with both teams scoring in five of the last six encounters. Leicester have conceded first in their last five, and on average, concede at least 1.4 goals per game – whilst maintaining a clean sheet percentage of 20% on home soil.

The visitors should provide plenty of attacking threat to the Leicester backline, as they average at least 2.44 goals per game on their travels. Both teams have scored in four of the previous five involving the hosts and eight of the previous ten involving Chelsea – Leicester 1-3 Chelsea

Leicester vs Chelsea: Preview & Prediction

Chelsea make the trip to Leicester hoping to continue their good start to the Premier League season, which has them within reach at the top of the table.

Date: 23/11/24

Kick-off time: 12:30

Venue: King Power Stadium

This weekend sees a clash between two sides at opposing ends of the table. Chelsea currently sit in third with 19 points, though this is a total recorded by three other teams. The Blues have exceeded expectations under Enzo Maresca early in the campaign as they trail second place Man City by four points. Their game against Leicester begins a run of some favourable fixtures, which could help them remain within touching distance of the top two.

Looking to stop them will be the Foxes, who are aiming to remain in the top flight following promotion last season. It will be a first reunion with the man who helped them there, as Maresca returns to the King Power. The man who replaced him, Steve Cooper, has the team in 15th, with improved results in recent weeks. They are winless in three, but had won back-to-back games against Southampton and Bournemouth. Their 10 points has them three clear of the bottom three, so any result will be a huge boost.

It will be tough, however, to beat Chelsea. The Blues have lost just once on the road this season, against Liverpool. That being said, Leicester should have confidence in getting on the scoresheet. The visitors have not kept a clean sheet in their last six league games. Though they will be tested at the other end, with Chelsea’s 21 goals scored the second-highest in the league.

Cole Palmer has scored seven of them and remains the side’s biggest threat. Nicolas Jackson has formed a dangerous partnership with him, contributing seven. They will be facing a defence who have allowed 21 goals, the third-most. Jamie Vardy leads the way for the hosts, having scored four so far. Facundo Buonanotte and James Justin have also provided key contributions, adding five goals between them.

These two teams have faced off eight times since 2021. Unsurprisingly, Chelsea have been the superior side, winning five of these games and drawing once. They are currently winners of three in a row, and will have confidence in extending that streak this weekend. Leicester’s last victory over Chelsea came in May 2021, when they won the FA Cup against Thomas Tuchel’s side. The latest meeting was another FA Cup tie last season, in which the Blues won 4-2 against their current manager who was in the opposing dugout.

Where to Watch

Leicester vs Chelsea will be available to watch on TNT Sports 1.

Team News

Leicester

Bobby De Cordova-Reid has missed the last couple of games but is hopeful to return this weekend. Patson Daka’s fitness is being monitored after a long-term injury though he too could be involved. Jamie Vardy will also be assessed whilst Ricardo Pereira is out for a few months.

Chelsea

Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill withdrew from international duty though should be available for this game. Jadon Sancho has missed the last few games with a knock and illness, so his availability is to be determined. Enzo Maresca should have a fully fit squad otherwise.

Form Guide

Leicester:

In their last five games, Leicester have won one, drawn one and lost three. It has been a tough return to life in the Premier League for the Foxes, however this run started with a stunning comeback victory at Southampton. The Saints were 2-0 up, before Facundo Buonanotte and Jamie Vardy pegged them back at 2-2. With 10 men, the hosts could not hold on as Jordan Ayew scored a 98th minute winner.

A 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest meant they could not continue their momentum. Vardy had cancelled out an early opener, but a Chris Wood brace shifted the game in the visitors’ favour. They then played a fourth round EFL Cup tie at Old Trafford against Man United, in which they lost 5-2 and were eliminated. Bilal El Khannouss and Conor Coady were their goalscorers.

Fellow relegation candidates Ipswich were their next opponents, and they came away with a point in a 1-1 draw. Leif Davis scored the opener for the hosts, before Kalvin Phillips saw red. The Foxes took advantage of the extra man and found the equaliser at the death through Ayew. Their latest game was another meeting with Man United, this time in the league. They lost 3-0 with strikes coming from Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho in addition to an own goal.

Chelsea:

In their last five games, Chelsea have won two, drawn two and lost one. It has been a solid stretch for Chelsea in recent weeks as they played across three different competitions. The first game of this run saw them in Premier League action as they took on Newcastle for the first of two fixtures in the space of a few days. They won the league game 2-1 at home as Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer scored either side of an Alexander Isak equaliser. The Blues were then eliminated from the EFL Cup by the same opponents in a 2-0 defeat on the road.

A trip to Old Trafford resulted in a 1-1 draw. Bruno Fernandes gave the hosts the lead from the spot, but a brilliant strike from Moises Caicedo ensured the points were shared. Attention shifted to the Europa Conference League in which Chelsea hosted Armenian side Noah. They were 8-0 winners with Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Axel Disasi, Joao Felix (x2), Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku (x2) all on the scoresheet.

They faced London rivals Arsenal in their latest game at Stamford Bridge, holding the Gunners to a 1-1 draw. Despite going behind to a Gabriel Martinelli opener, the Blues salvaged a point with a fine finish by Pedro Neto.
