Mbappe and the rest of audience left stunned

Tonight the most prestigious football awards ceremony takes place in Paris, the Ballon D'or. For years it's been dominated by two players, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo but there's now a new name added to the illustrious list of winners, Luka Modric. It's a huge achievement for the Croatian following a fantastic year for both club & country and he wasn't the only winner of the evening. History was made in Paris with the Ballon D'ors first ever female recipient picking up the trophy, Norway international and Lyon forward Ada Hegerberg.

The 23 year-old is one of the most devastating strikers in Europe, scoring an incredible 157 goals in 125 appearances for the French side in just 4 seasons and her strikes played an important part in them winning the 2017/18 Women's Champions League. It's a hugely proud moment for her, but the evening has a slightly controversial edge to it after she was handed the award.

Upon accepting it she was asked by presenter Martin Solveig if she would 'twerk' and it's safe to say she wasn't pleased in the slightest. This is a player who's just made history by winning the first ever women's Ballon D'or and scored a jaw dropping 250 goals by the age of the 23, now being asked to twerk on stage. It's a question that hasn't gone down well on social media or at the ceremony itself, with stars such as Kylian Mbappe looking on in disbelief. Could you imagine Messi, Ronaldo or Modric being asked this?!
