Peterborough United are aiming to further stamp their name on the playoff spots this weekend with the trip to the Pirelli Stadium where a struggling Burton Albion awaits them after a fantastic 5-1 win for the Posh against Northampton Town.
Peterborough went 1-0 down inside 10 minutes against Northampton, but a finish in the first half from star man, Ephron Mason-Clark and another goal from Kwame Poku put them ahead. Joel Randall, Hector Kyprianou and Josh Knight made sure of the three points in the second half.
The Posh remain in fifth place as a result, and with a game in hand to play over Derby County in third, the club could end up cutting that gap on the Rams if their excellent form continues. Peterborough have now won four in a row, as they also edged past Exeter City at home last weekend after also beating Cambridge United on the road before that. Darren Ferguson's men have even set up a Football League Trophy final with Wycombe Wanderers at the start of next month after beating Blackpool in February in the semi final.
As for Burton, they re down in 18th after failing to win in League One yet again. The Brewers crew 0-0 with fellow strugglers Cheltenham Town in that game, as they also lost to last-placed Carlisle United to bring them even closer to the relegation zone two weeks ago. A further loss to Northampton Town at home means just a win away to Leyton Orient in the past month for Burton.
This should be a routine win for the in-form promotion hopefuls, Peterborough.
