Burton Albion vs Peterborough United Prediction, Tips & Stats

Peterborough United are aiming to further stamp their name on the playoff spots this weekend with the trip to the Pirelli Stadium where a struggling Burton Albion awaits them after a fantastic 5-1 win for the Posh against Northampton Town.

Peterborough went 1-0 down inside 10 minutes against Northampton, but a finish in the first half from star man, Ephron Mason-Clark and another goal from Kwame Poku put them ahead. Joel Randall, Hector Kyprianou and Josh Knight made sure of the three points in the second half.

The Posh remain in fifth place as a result, and with a game in hand to play over Derby County in third, the club could end up cutting that gap on the Rams if their excellent form continues. Peterborough have now won four in a row, as they also edged past Exeter City at home last weekend after also beating Cambridge United on the road before that. Darren Ferguson's men have even set up a Football League Trophy final with Wycombe Wanderers at the start of next month after beating Blackpool in February in the semi final.

As for Burton, they re down in 18th after failing to win in League One yet again. The Brewers crew 0-0 with fellow strugglers Cheltenham Town in that game, as they also lost to last-placed Carlisle United to bring them even closer to the relegation zone two weeks ago. A further loss to Northampton Town at home means just a win away to Leyton Orient in the past month for Burton.

This should be a routine win for the in-form promotion hopefuls, Peterborough.

          Burton Albion team news

Another winless game for Burton also saw some more injuries come in. Seddon is facing a late fitness test at left-back, and it seems as if he might be joined in the physio room by Helm. Gilligan came off last weekend but should be fit to play. The Brewers also saw yellow cards for Powell, Oshilaja, Sweeney and keeper Crocombe in that game. Bobby Kamwa and Rekeem Harper are set to come into the starting XI, given the injuries, and Jamal Blackman is a welcomed comeback into the squad for Burton.

          Peterborough United team news

Josh Knight, Kwame Poku and Hector Kyprianou all came off after scoring in the win over Northampton during the week but are fit to start. Jonson Clarke-Harris didn't get any game time in that match and may now feature here up top instead of Jones. Randall and Mason-Clark should still start in the attacking midfield ranks, but Ryan de Haviland is campaigning for a spot in the starting XI after an impressive cameo during the week.
