David De Gea is perhaps the most notable free agent in world football at present having failed to agree on new terms with Manchester United at the end of the 2022/23 season, seeing the Red Devils opt to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
The 32-year-old had spent a total of 12 years at Old Trafford, breaking the club’s clean sheet record that was once held by Peter Schmeichel (now 190), while also holding the record for most appearances by an overseas player at the club. During his time at United, De Gea won eight major honours and was part of United’s last Premier League title-winning side back in 2013.
