Takumi Minamino Transfer News & Odds

Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino looks destined for an exit from Anfield this summer having played just 1,008 minutes worth of first-team football for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season.

The 27-year-old Japan international was signed from Austrian Bundesliga outfit Red Bull Salzburg for just £7.25m in January 2020 and has a decent record for the Anfield club, scoring 14 and assisting three in 55 appearances.

Minamino was even sent out on loan during the 2020/21 season to Southampton, where he managed two goals in 10 appearances during the second half of last season. Following the arrival of Luis Diaz from Porto, Minamino looks set to be made surplus to requirements as he searches for regular first-team football.

In his time at Anfield so far, Minamino has managed to win the Premier League in 2019/20, as well as both the FA Cup and League Cup this season. He could also add the Champions League to his list of honours if Liverpool are successful in defeating Real Madrid on Saturday at the Stade de France.

Leeds United Odds: 2/1

Leeds United are the favourites to sign Minamino as the Elland Road club looks to strengthen the quality of their squad having dramatically survived on the final day of the Premier League season with victory at Brentford.

Jesse Marsch and Minamino have worked with each other before, having both been at Red Bull Salzburg where the Japanese winger had a fruitful spell, managing 64 goals and 43 assists in 199 matches before eventually earning himself a move to Anfield.

With rumours circulating that Raphinha could be off to join Barcelona this summer, Minamino would likely provide an astute option for the Elland Road club, especially considering the fact that he can play an array of positions.

Lazio Odds: 5/1

Lazio have been linked with the Japan international as Maurizio Sarri’s men look to build on the fifth-placed finish they managed in Serie this campaign.

With Jovane Cabral failing to impress at the Stadio Olimpico since his loan move from Sporting Lisbon in January, scoring just one league goal in three league appearances, on top of the fact that Mattia Zaccagni has endured a poor goalscoring return since joining on loan from Hellas Verona, Minaimo could be next in line to try and prove his quality.

As mentioned above, the Japan international has a decent goalscoring record and could be available for a cheap fee this summer, which would certainly be of interest to the likes of Lazio in the current financial climate.

Lazio are priced at 5/1 to acquire Minamino this summer.

Inter Milan Odds: 7/1

The final team on this list of clubs to be linked to Minamino is Inter Milan who are reportedly looking to increase their squad depth following disappointing seasons for both Joaquin Correa and Alexis Sanchez as backups to both Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez.

Correa only managed to score six league goals, whilst Sanchez found the back of the net just five times and has just one year left on his current contract at the San Siro, having failed to set the Serie A alight since leaving Manchester United following a disastrous spell at the Red Devils.

With Minamino offering a highly energetic option who can play in a multitude of positions, this could be a good signing for Inter who were known to be struggling financially last summer.

Minamino is priced at 7/1 to trade life at Anfield for the San Siro.
