Morecambe and Lincoln City are set to clash in a massive game for the Shrimps and a near-pointless one for the Imps with the home side fighting for their life down in the bottom four of League One with just a few games left.
Morecambe have just two games left to spare in this incredible relegation battle that has seen a number of teams in and out of the drop zone. Heading into the final few games, Oxford United, MK Dons, Morecambe, Accrington Stanley and Cambridge United are all still fighting in the bottom four, but it is Morecambe who come into this one with the most goals conceded (73) and the fewest wins of the lot (9).
This game is also the last outing for the Shrimps on home soil in 2022/23, with a trip to Exeter City coming on the final day of the season. However, Morecambe are heading into this game with a three-game unbeaten run and all six points from their past two games.
This run started with a 0-0 draw against Portsmouth before the club went on to steal all three points in the last minute against Wycombe Wanderers thanks to a goal from Cole Stockton.
Morecambe then edged past Charlton Athletic 3-2 at The Valley last weekend, as Stockton scored two more times before James Weir won it for Derek Adams' men.
Adams' side are now sitting in the bottom four on goals difference because of their dismal defensive record. They are heading into this one with 42 goals scored as well, meaning they have to overturn a points deficit instead, as Oxford sit with a -13 goals difference compared to Morecambe's -31.
Lincoln are coming into this one having put together their best run of form in 2023 where they have drawn with title chasers Sheffield Wednesday, beat top-of-the-table Plymouth Argyle in their own backyard, and also defeated Wycombe Wanderers on the road. The club have also drawn with promotion hopefuls Barnsley, and defeated Port Vale 3-1.
